The weather for the 2009 Fisk Knob TT may have been more suited for watching old Tour de France videos and spinning inside on the trainer. Temperatures at race time were in the low 30's with a blustery northwest wind at 15-20 mph and occasional light snow showers. Fortunately the accumulating snow that was forecasted for the area never happened. However, despite the tough weather conditions, 120 dedicated and hard-core cyclists tested their fitness and iron-will at the Knob. Some riders seemed unphased by the January like conditions and lined-up at the start line in full summer gear (short sleeve jersey, no leg warmers). The overall winner of the Men's category was Tom Burke, who averaged almost 26 mph over the 17.3-mile rolling to hilly course. The overall winner of the Women's category was Linda Martin, who averaged 20.7 mph. Complete race results are posted on the 2009 Fisk Knob page. In addition to the great racing, awards, and really good food, 36 riders received prizes in the raffle drawing. Prizes and gift certificates were provided by Fusion-IT, Kentwood Office Furniture, Schmohz Brewery, Village Bike Shop, Great Harvest Bread Company, Hammer Nutrition, Salus Massage Therapy, Health Motion Performance and Training Lab, Velocity USA, and Family Fare Super Markets.
